About Tammi

  • Status: This animal is no longer shown on this website.
  • Species: Cat
  • General Color: White (Mostly)
  • Declawed: No
  • Housetrained: Yes

Tammy and her brother Timmy were rescued in Ivanhoe by a very sweet young woman after a dog attacked and killed their mother. They had a very small brother and sister who were unable to survive without their mother and died a few days later. Tammy does get stressed out around dogs and barking and if she were to go to a home with dogs they would have to be introduced very slowly especially under the circumstances of what happened to her mother.

Tammy is all white with the exception of a very faint grey spot on the tip of her tail and another one on the top of her head, with short coarse hair similar to a hunting dog. She is an oriental shorthair mix with eyes that change from gold to green. She has a very long lean body with a long thin tail and long thin legs. She is extremely loving; likes to be held and petted, will sleep on the bed with you and is good about having her nails trimmed and having her fur brushed. She also thinks she is part retriever as she will bring her toys to you to throw for her and then will retrieve them and bring them back to you so you can throw them again. You will wear out from throwing the toys before she will wear out from retrieving them!

Tammy loves to sit and look out windows and watch the birds and butterflies fly by.  She gets along well with other cats and kittens and loves to run and play and sleep with them. She likes a variety of toys, but her favorites right now are mice made out of rabbit fur and chenille sticks both of which she loves to carry around and run after and retrieve. She likes both canned and dry food.

Tammy is negative for Aids’/Leukemia has had all her shots, has been wormed, and has been spayed. We are adopting Tammy and her brother Timmy together due to their rough beginning and their attachment to each other. Timmy and Tammy are a year and 3 months old and have been in their foster home for a year and two months They are indoor only cats and are looking for a forever home together.

It is suggested as with all feline adoptions to keep a new companion indoors for a several weeks so they become familiar with the new surroundings. It is also good to make sure they have a "special" area they can escape to when company comes. This will make both you and your companion have a much better relationship.
