Brownie's Story:

We found Brownie in our neighborhood in Tulare. We put posters up and put a notice on craigslist that we had found him but no response. We went to the SPCA to see if the owners were looking for him and to surrender him if not but they told us that they had received 150 animals around the 4th of July and were only able to adopt out 10 of them. We were not comfortable leaving him there knowing that and no one had contacted them looking for him.

We immediately took him to get his shots and purchased the crate we gave you and decided we would try to find him a good home if we couldn't find his owners. Of course, we would have just kept him (as you know he is sooooo sweet ! ) but we already have three dogs of our own and Tulare only allows three.

We were unsuccessful at finding the owners still and kept in contact with the SPCA to make sure that no one was looking for him. We were not able to find a home within our circle of family and friends and we were not comfortable just giving him to anyone. We searched the internet for dog rescues and we emailed some and I happened to see that love of animals would be at Petsmart and we hoped that we might be able to give him to a rescue that would find him a good home. Thank God you were willing to take him because the other rescues we contacted either didn't have room or didn't even respond back.

At our home he was so very loving to us. He was much more comfortable around us inside other than being outside. He was very insecure with our pups as I imagine it was very scary for him. We have a Chihuahua, a pit bull, and a mastiff mix. After a while he was more comfortable with them but definitely preferred to be with us vs. them. He was just so sweet and enjoys raw hides very very much! We wanted to potty train him while we had him so we used the crate at night and during naps so that he would alert us in the event he needed to potty :) Sometimes he would have no problem being in there and sometimes he would want to be out of course :) But after a little while he enjoyed it and would go in and out of it on his own.

We took him on walks and did really good as long as someone was in front for him to follow. Otherwise he would stop to be with us if he didn't have someone to follow. We miss him very much and it was very hard for us to give him up but we know he is in good hands and you will find him a good home. Thanks again for all that you have done - it is such a blessing to us and to Brownie!

From Foster Mom:

He took to using the doggy door right off the bat and loves sleeping with my niece. He does drive my sister crazy but that is because she has 7 dachshund puppies she is caring for that are 6 weeks old and wants to get into their area to play with them. Brownie has made new friends and fits in well while here while he awaits his forever home.

Brownie has been neutered, micro-chipped, dewormed, vaccinated, and rabies shot.....he is all set to go!!!!
