Sasha has been living in an unoccupied home that is being renovated. She is cared for by the neighbors and one week a month the owner/renovaters are there with her. They have only glowing things to say about her...

She charmed us right away with her intelligence and curiosity. As an old hand at training dogs, I quickly recognized her potential and good nature. She plays with both humans and dogs readily and with a soft mouth. She takes an active interest in all of our activities and tries very hard to please us or invite us to play. She has an entertaining habit of taking interest in objects that we are working with and moving them to a pile of her choosing. She will select items from tool boxes or small blocks of wood that are being sawn off and carry them to a place that she feels is more appropriate. She has never destroyed or chewn anything up, but she definitely enjoys having a "Job" to do to help out the rest of the pack.

I have had very little time to work with her, but she took only a few minutes to learn to walk on a lead. She has a small issue with walking on slippery surfaces that she is not familiar with, but she has improved markedly and I am certain that she'll get over that with more exposure to new places. We have taken her on a few truck rides to visit friends and she rode quite calmy, as if she did it all the time. She sat upright in her seat watching everything just like the humans. Her curious nature leads her to investigate as much as possible. She was particularly enamored of my friends swimming pool. She stood quietly erect for nearly an hour watching the undulating reflections from the waters surface.

She has shown some dominance around the food dish with a smaller dog, but I taught her to stay in her area until everyone has finished eating. She is respectful of this rule, but any new owners should know that her training here should be continued. Otherwise, she plays wonderfully and gently with others. She is submissive to humans when approached and will lay down and show her belly when she thinks a petting is eminent. At the slightest invitation she will be more than happy to play too.

.....Unless you are a gopher. She is a gopher killing machine. Our yard was overrun until she arrived. Now there is virtually no sign of them within the fenced area, just a few body parts to be found once in a while. She has saved me a lot of work and the yard looks great. I am in no hurry for her to move away, but we'll have a tenant soon.

She is also just large enough to be effective as a guard dog. We lost some patio furniture before she arrived, but have had no problems since Sasha has been on the job. Conveniently, she is still small enough to pick up and carry when necessary and feeding her is not expensive. She is wonderfully healthy and has a nice, glossy coat. She is quite agile and light on her feet. I would love to see her play more often with some really fast dogs... I'm sure she could keep up with the quickest of them.

Best of all, she uses a distant corner of the yard as her bathroom. She did this from day 1 with no training(very nice!). She seems to know automatically what she should do to fit in and be a helpful part of the family.  She barks only when a good watchdog should and never growls at anyone. She is very alert and her tail spends a lot of time wagging. Everyone who has gotten to know her is fond of her.

...and she's gorgeous!
